Can we change generationally inherited traits?

Sometimes when we get around people who are serving sin as believers, I say to them, “You can change.” They look at me and huff up and say, “Pastor, that’s just the way I am. My Daddy was that way; my Granddaddy was that way. You have to accept me just the way I am.”

I look at them and say, “Well, I accept you, but I don’t accept the things that are destroying you and putting you in bondage.

A great promise to believers in the Bible is — From glory to glory we are being changed into His image.

18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV

When you are bound by taking thought for tomorrow, and fear, anxiety and stress that is not His image. That is not the mind of Christ. This is basic.

Knowing that the devil can send people to you for prayer, it brings to mind how many of these people are in our Sunday morning services today, and the elders are anointing them with oil, expecting God to heal them and less than five percent of anyone is being healed of incurable diseases. This has to be a discouraging thing for elders in churches, and pastors, and people receiving ministry.
