Is there a time when you should not pray for a person to be healed?

When you anoint with oil, you are doing the Word, but healing doesn’t happen because those who are applying this as a spiritual application, even in those churches that believe God heals today, don’t quote the rest of those verses. “And if they have committed any sins, they shall be forgiven.”

When someone comes to you within over 80% of incurable diseases and in over 200 or 300 diseases that we know about, if that person comes to you wanting you to pray the prayer of faith that God will heal them, he knows why they have a disease. He knows what’s behind that disease. What the church is doing is praying for them and not discipling them first. This is a key issue. But we don’t know how to disciple them. We don’t know in what way to disciple them. If there is a spiritual root to their disease, they should be discipled in that area.

If the devil is sending people to you, and you think God is talking to you, do not doubt it. But show me this in the Bible.

The Bible says to try the spirits.

1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1 John 4:1 KJV

The proof should be rooted in the Word. 2 Timothy 2:24-26 says:

24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 ln meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

2 Timothy 2:24-26 KJV

The devil can have Christians held captive at his will. We don’t want to teach that. We want to act like we are a free bird, but we are not free birds. We’ve become almost like Christian scientists. We have a disease, but it doesn’t really exist. We act like we don’t have it. Either we have a disease or we don’t. It’s not a figment of our imagination.

In 2 Timothy 2:24-26, it says the servant of the Lord (that’s me and you) must not strive, must be gentle unto all men, patient, able to teach. Why would we teach people? We teach because they need to know something. You don’t teach someone who already knows something. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves. So we are going to give instruction to people who are in opposition to themselves. That God peradventure … Peradventure in the King James Version (KJV) means it will be a miracle if it ever happens. Will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. So there’s an element of truth they don’t have, that they need, to the acknowledgement of the truth. This is to believers. … that they may recover themselves from the snare of the devil (my parenthesis, having been taken captive at the devil’s will). The New International Version (NIV) says “to do the devil’s will”.

Paul is saying that Satan and his kingdom can bind a believer at the devil’s will because of ignorance. It also says that in Isaiah 5:13. God said — My people have gone into captivity because they have no knowledge, and hell hast enlarged herself.

13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

Isaiah 5:13 KJV

When hell hath enlarged herself against God’s people, that’s not having “a heaven of a day.”

Hosea 4:6 says — My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Then it says — Because you have rejected knowledge. We have issues where people have rejected knowledge.

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Hosea 4:6 KJV

This opens up the dimension as to what we represent as Christ’s ambassadors – which is instruction in righteousness so that mankind can recover themselves from an invisible kingdom which has taken them to the cleaners, making their lives miserable, making them full of poverty and disease and insanity. It’s not God’s will that His people should be bound by the devil. This verse should be our Magna Carta.

These verses are foundational to understanding the problem of sin and how to get free. They are not addressed to unbelievers or to those who are not in covenant. They are addressed to New Testament, blood-bought saints that are not free.

When we start giving this knowledge to people, you can see the lights go on. It bears witness and already healing begins because they are coming into agreement with truth, maybe for the first time because they never saw it that way, and coming out of agreement with the enemy as they see how their lives are unfolding before them through ministry.

Paul in Romans 6, 7 and 8 talks to believers about the difference in being led by the Spirit of God or following the lust of the flesh. In Romans 7 he said that in his members he had the law of God and the law of sin. That’s a hard subject for many Christians to swallow because we’re acting like we’re free, but we still have our stuff.
