God’s perfect will is not to heal you. His perfect will is that you don’t get sick. The church doesn’t understand disease prevention from a spiritual standpoint at all. Deuteronomy 7 says that if we’ll hear what God said and be a doer of the Word, then we’ll get none of the diseases of Egypt upon us. But God will put them upon those that hate us.
15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
Deuteronomy 7:15 KJV
See also Deuteronomy 28:1-2, Exodus 15:26.
People who are practicing hatred ought to be diseased, and people that are loving their enemy ought to be well. That’s really what it’s saying so if we have the diseases of people that hate us, maybe we ought to redefine who’s hating whom.
Right there is disease prevention. No one understands divine health. God doesn’t need a disease to get you to heaven. I almost lose my pastoral sanctification when I go to one of these funerals where a man who is 48 years of age has died of a massive heart attack, leaving behind a wife and four children, and that pastor says, “God took him”. The devil took him! It was wonderful that he was born again and that he would go to heaven, but what caused that heart attack was a work of the devil not of God. God is not trying to kill us to get us to heaven. There are things that happen, but heart diseases that kill people prematurely are a work of the devil because they’re rooted in spiritual issues.
Donna was talking about a scripture before the break concerning blessings and curses in Deuteronomy 11. Deuteronomy 11:26-28 says — Behold I set before you this day a blessing and a __________ (“blank”); well, curse. A blessing if… (here are the conditions) … a blessing if you do what? Obey the commandments of the Lord. Verse 28 says — and a __________ (“blank”), a curse if you will not obey.
26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; 27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: 28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
Deuteronomy 11:26-28 KJV
Here are the conditions of blessings and __________ (“blanks”), curses. I’m not making it up, and I’m not stretching it. People don’t realize that under the law of Moses there was a provision for the salvation of Gentiles. If the Gentile would come in, be circumcised as a male, and follow the commandments of the Torah, they would benefit in all ways. People don’t realize that the blessing of the age of grace and mercy is built in the law also. It was fulfilled through Christ, but the principles were taught right here.
