Overcoming Together Book/Bible Study Groups

Welcome to the Overcoming Together Book/Bible Study Groups.

Discipleship in Action!

The purpose of these study groups is to study the Bible and a variety of books (as guides into Scripture) to disciple God’s children into mature believers. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and together as believers, we explore God’s mysteries and revelation into God’s Word… who God was, is, and is to come, who we are, and God’s plan and purposes for each one of us… for eternity.

Do we need to believe the entire Bible?

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2Timothy 3:16-17 KJV

Yes. God’s Word says we must believe “all” scripture for proper instruction in righteousness.

Why must we be discipled in the Word of Righteousness?

11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5:11-14 KJV

We need realize that we are created for relationship. First for God, and secondly, for each other. We also need to recognize that we need each other in that relationship. We overcome this world and the temptations of our enemy, Satan, by the Word of God. We need to overcome together!

Can our natural minds understand the deep things of God and God’s Word?

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ. 1Corinthians 2:9-16 KJV

We use our natural minds to absorb knowledge “logos”, but we rely on the Holy Spirit to have revelation of that knowledge “rhema”. We essentially need God to put His Supernatural on our Natural!

Is there a consequence for not studying God’s Word and being a “doer” of His Word?

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7 KJV

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 KJV

18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 KJV

6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. Hosea 4:6 KJV

Having a healthy fear or “reverence” for the Lord and the knowledge and application of God’s Word in our respective lives brings blessing and life.

Be encouraged !!!

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 1Corinthians 2:13 KJV

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26 KJV

9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: Isaiah 28:9-10 KJV

Study to show yourself as a worker approved by God…

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Timothy 2:15 KJV
